After a summer spent swimming and running around outside I thought my daughter would enjoy week of Tiny Tots Nature Camp at the local Nature Center. It is a great class, one hour each day consisting of a story, art project, and nature walk – sounded good even to me (and a nature girl I’m not). Today we learned about clouds. My daughter wasn’t having it.
She didn’t want to go sit in the room with the snake sculpture and stuffed mallard ducks (and by stuffed I mean of the taxidermy variety). She didn’t want to paint with white paint on blue paper to make clouds – however she loved attaching cotton ball clouds with the glue stick. Then it came time for the nature walk. It rained. The umbrella was more entertaining than the shapes of the tree leaves. Then the mosquitoes came out.
We got home and washed off the million layers of bug spray (that stuff without deet does nothing!). My daughter put on a dress and settled down in her room to play with her princess dolls. I made a cup of nice hot coffee, relaxed, and then realized we have to do this for the rest of the week.
