My Favorites – Chocolate Swirl Brioche

If I had to pick one thing that I made last year that was my favorite – there’s no question it was this Chocolate Swirl Brioche Bread.

I rarely have the opportunity to bake just for fun. I usually bake because someone wants cookies, or I need to perfect a recipe, or it’s part of a planned meal. But when I saw this bread posted on Food 52 (one of my favorite food websites) I stopped what I was doing and promptly made it.

It was surprisingly easy to make – or it could be that the recipe was very easy to follow along – or it could mean that I am getting quite a bit better at working with yeast breads. Either way, I would encourage you to give this delicious bread a try! Just make sure to chop up the chocolate quite a bit smaller than I did. The chocolate did not melt throughout the dough as I thought it would so chopping up the chocolate well is a must here.

This bread was one of those things where you just can’t help but smile with each bite. I mean, really, how can you go wrong with a slightly sweet, eggy, dark chocolate laced yeast bread?? I know it’s not exactly on the healthy eating resolution radar, but it’s a wonderful treat! It would be remarkable as french toast – sadly, it didn’t last long enough to make it to the weekend to try this out.

Give this delicious Chocolate Swirl Brioche a try this weekend and let me know if it’s one of your favorites too!!
