Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know this summer has been H-O-T!
While I’ve enjoyed every minute of it {and will certainly be dreaming of this enveloping heat once the driveway is buried under two feet of snow} there have been a few days where it’s been hard to escape the heat. Most Michigan lake houses and cottages don’t have air conditioning {WHAT?!?} so when a lake breeze isn’t enough to cool you down try one of these trusty methods:
1. Plant your chair IN the lake! Grab your water, sit back and relax. Extra refreshing if you have in lake water misting areas. ….Also known as little kids with squirt guns.

2. Go for a swim! In Michigan where the lakes are extremely clear, it usually means they are extremely cold {or REFRESHING as a true Michigander will tell you – I still have memories of my Grandpa bellowing at the top of his lungs “It’s NEVER cold at Higgins Lake” whenever I said the water was too cold}. But seriously, who wouldn’t want to swim in this beautiful lake?
3. Sipping on chilled cans {yes, I said cans} of Champagne after said swim. …or a large slice of watermelon if you’re of the under 21 variety.

4. Head into “town” to visit super cutesy touristy shops and cafes. Two words here “air conditioning.” In the car, in the cute adorable shops, and well – an iced latte never hurts.

And finally, if none of that has worked….. Just stay in the lake until sunset. Which doesn’t start until 9:30. Don’t worry, someone will bring you a s’more!!!
